Amalfi Coast.
Taking a boat from Positano to Amalfi along the Amalfi Coast really gives a unique view of the coast. You can rent one from Positano.
Capri
Is perfect for a day trip. The only way to Capri is by boat. You can hire a private boat or take a ferry from any number of ports like Naples, Amalfi, Sorrento to get to Capri. We hired a private boat to take us since we had 6 of us going.
We went through the stone archway of the Faraglione di Mezzo which is said to be Lover’s Archway and any couples that kiss as they pass through will stay together forever or the legend says. Since it was my friends birthday the skipper kissed her which was a nice surprise.
We also stopped at the White Grotto or Grotta Bianca which has stalactites and stalagmites. The water was just so blue and clear here. The red crystals on the side of the walls by the waters edge are only visible when it’s low tide.
Capri was such a relaxing place to spend the day at especially to have lunch at a restaurant over looking the sea and to just watch the boats come and go.
Pompeii
Is another excellent day trip. We booked a private tour with Charming Italy. Which included a van to pick us up from Positano and then drop us back off at Positano after our tour was over. https://www.charmingitaly.net
This was a unique experience to see how preserved the city was under 4 to 6 m of volcanic ash and pumice after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
